Vivian Plantation house reproduced from an original acrylic painting by Gerald Stewart Heath, Newmarket Ontario, Canada.

Owned and operated by three generations of the Grose family, Vivian Plantation has been in operation since 1947. During this time, 20 acres of sandy, otherwise non-arable land, have been reclaimed. Presently, 30 acres of the property are devoted to wooded area.

During our 67 years of operation, more than 57,500 trees have been harvested. Initially trees were sold wholesale, however, since 1965 when the Grose family started the “harvest your own” programme, the Vivian Plantation operation sells wholesale, as well as to individuals who may choose from a pre-harvested tree, or select and harvest their own tree. Either way, the same great experience in the country is enjoyed by all customers. Each year, about 1,000 to 1,500 new trees are planted, ensuring that for years to come you can enjoy such an experience.

Harvesting Your Very Own Tree

Be our guest! Christmas memories start with the tree, but no Christmas tree outing would be complete without fresh apple cider, a hayride, and the chance to warm yourself by the fire.

Bring the entire family, but please be sure that the four footed members remain on leash and under control at all times. This will ensure that everyone who comes to the plantation can enjoy thier visit!

Vivian Plantation is a natural setting. Bring a saw if you like, but we have plenty of those in stock at the “shack” for your use.  Our knowledgeable staff will gladly offer advice, and help you decide what variety of tree is best suited to your needs.

For those who are young, or young at heart, a hay wagon regularly transits the property, giving you the chance to do a “reconnaissance mission” around the 40-acre site before starting your selection process. Then you can begin the adventure of locating just the right tree to complement your home. When the selection and cutting are done, the wagon can bring you and your tree out of the plantation.

As you warm yourselves beside the log fire, roasting marshmallows and sipping hot chocolate or spiced apple cider, the staff will shake any loose needles from your tree, bale it and help you stow it away in, or on your vehicle. A tree bag is also included – and all of this at no extra charge.

An outing to Vivian Plantation is truly…
Where Christmas memories begin
